Innovative Automation is the proud new recipient of a Silver Award for the Young Worker Safety category of “Canada’s Safest Employers”, presented on October 24, 2016 at a gala in Toronto. Canada’s Safest Employers Award is presented by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, a Thomson Reuters business. Launched in 2011, the awards recognize Canadian companies with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers.
This award is particularly exciting for Innovative Automation, as one of five recipients of the inaugural “Canada’s Safest Employer” award in 2011, followed by a silver award in Manufacturing Safety in 2013, and Gold in Young Worker safety in 2015. This now fourth-time award validates that the Occupational Health and Safety Management system implemented by Innovative Automation in 2010 is a valuable and essential component of daily safety at Innovative.
“Taking the stage next to companies large and small, from Nunavut to British Columbia to the shores of New Brunswick, truly is an honour for Innovative Automation. Safety has always been the first priority in everything we do, from morning meetings to quarterly “What’s New” meetings. Communication is the key to success. With our exponential growth since late 2014, we now have almost 45% of our employees aged 30 or younger. It is essential that each and every one of them understands why safety is so important to me—and so important in every task they perform. I’m an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and we take our role in the WSIB Safety Group sponsored by EMC Canada very seriously”.
